Super player for Everton

Having seen them play at first hand over the weekend we feel that there is a huge amount for Everton fans to be excited about under Roberto Martinez.

Although Tottenham won the game Everton were, for long periods, the better team. They passed the ball quickly and accurately. They were exceedingly calm in possession and they had a great understanding of where their team mates were positioned.

Everton were largely first to the ball and created some excellent chances. Overall they were more coherent than the opposition and were unlucky to lose the game.

The one clear area of inferiority on the day was their cutting edge in the final third. Although Tottenham were slow out of the blocks they were still a threat when they did get forward and a moment of brilliance from Emmanuel Adebayor settled the contest. Without Romelu Lukaku Everton didn’t have an obvious spearhead. This is where they need to improve.

Recent reports suggest that Everton are in the queue for the dazzling Spanish youngster Ayoze Perez. The Metro says today:

Spanish prospect Ayoze Perez has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League after tearing up Segunda B with Tenerife this season. The 20-year-old striker has been watched by Arsenal, Everton and many others – here’s a few more details about the youngster.

Depending on which source you read Arsenal, Real Madrid or Everton could be at the head of the queue for his services. Real Madrid reportedly bid for the player in January so there is heavyweight competition for the player.

But if Roberto Martinez can use his Spanish connections to bring Perez to Everton they will be getting a super player.

Although not yet capped by Spain the 20 year old has caused a real stir in Spain with some brilliant performances and a dozen goals since his first team debut in 2012.

Let’s have a look at the player in action and see what all the fuss is about.

Everton fans – is this the sort of player who can take you forward?
