Surprise

There are several players who are seemingly on the radar of both Manchester United and Barcelona this summer.

Barcelona have the advantage in several respects, including the fact that they are in The Champions League and located in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

But it may still come as a surprise to hear that one of those targets, Thomas Vermaelen, seems close to moving to Spain after reports have suggested that a deal he has been agreed for the player.

Manchester United seemed very strong favourites to land him until recently, when it became apparent that Arsneal manager Arsene Wenger would only deal with United if he could get a player in return – that player was thought to be Chris Smalling. The Guardian reports:

Thomas Vermaelen close to Barcelona move after Manchester United pull out
• Arsenal captain could complete £15m transfer at weekend
• Louis van Gaal refused to include player as part of deal

And English media outlet, The Metro, reports on Friday that Barcelona have agreed a price for the highly experienced Belgium centre back.

They say:

Thomas Vermaelen close to Barcelona transfer as Arsenal accept £10.3million bid

With Gerard Pique hoping to have a much better season and Jeremy Mathieu joining the club this summer it will be interesting to see you actually plays in defence come the start of the season.

Having sat out large chunks of last season at Arsenal, and missed much of The World Cup due to injury, there is no guarantee of a starting place in the team for Vermaelen at Barcelona either. Nevertheless, he will add quality to a squad which hasn’t been so great defensively over the last year.

Let’s see Vermaelen in action. Barca fans: will this be the end of your quest for defenders this summer?

Its not bad deal, but i’m not excited to love that deal i hope the defenders as D’Blind,Humels or Boateng according to their ages will be more fantastic than to sign Vermaelen,

No need of signing Vermaelen to Barca but Cuadrado is better to sign.
