Barcelona now odds on favourites to sign sensation

You would imagine that Barcelona will need to balance the books this summer, particularly considering their recent brush with FIFA over FairPlay.

And with that huge outlay on Luis Suarez, of around £75 million (plus £10m for goalkeeper Claudio Bravo) instinct may suggest that they don’t really have much more scope to spend right now.

But then you factor in the sales of Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas for a combined fee of around £60 million and Barcelona are only about £25 million down at this point.

So, even if they don’t sell any more players, they can probably buy another one for in the region of £25 million.

And one of the names which has been most strongly linked to Barcelona this summer is Juan Cuadrado.

The brilliant Columbia winger had an explosive World Cup and is seemingly being chased by many of Europe’s top clubs.

But, as with many elite players over the last decade, when Barcelona come calling they are extremely hard to turn down.

The odds have been swinging back and forth like a pendulum between Barcelona and United of late. But Barcelona have now moved in to odds on favourites to sign the player this summer if he does move on from Fiorentina. The odds of him going to Barca are now 10/11 with Skybet.

The feeling is that a decision about the future of Cuadrado will be made pretty soon – potentially even this week. And while the player would represent an excellent addition for Barcelona they do also need defenders.

If they do sign Cuadrado then perhaps they will sell again before adding a centre back in the transfer window.

Let’s see Cuadrado in action. Barcelona fans – a wise investment?

You should make a correction. Barcelona have not been subject to any FFP sanctions. The transfer ban looming is completely unrelated to anything financial, and more to do with the acquisition of youth.
