After a highly stressful first season in charge at Aston Villa, Paul Lambert has won over the fans in fantastic style.

He kept Aston Villa up last season and the youngsters he bought to the club are now bedding in and forming a strong foundation.

But in such a competitive league, to stand still, is to go backwards. With more money than ever in The Premier League all clubs will be spending in January – or at least looking to do so. So Aston Villa must strengthen again, particularly in the forward areas.

Christian Benteke needs support up top and Lambert can’t expect his main man to go on all season without needing an unenforced break at some stage. Reports today suggest that Aston Villa may have identified another striker for the squad.

According to reports 20-year-old striker Piotr Parzyszek is wanted at Aston Villa and Benfica. The Mirror says:

Aston Villa and Portuguese giants Benfica are watching Polish striker Piotr Parzyszek.

The 20-year-old on Paul Lambert’s radar stands 6ft 2in tall, and plays for Dutch second-tier side De Graafschap.

He has 28 goals in 50 appearances for the club, and has played for Poland at Under-20 level.

The 6ft 2in forward is absolutely on fire at the moment and, if he could bring that scoring form to England, Aston Villa would have another superstar on their hands.

Whether Aston Villa can persuade the player to join them instead of The Portuguese giants in Janaury remains to be seen. They will hope that the pull of the Premier League is enough to tempt the talented youngster. Let’s see the player in action. Aston Villa fans should you be prioritising the signing of another striker this January?
