Worth a punt?

Aston Villa have been quietly getting on with their business in the transfer market this summer. And now that The World Cup is nearing a conclusion players will be more free to discuss potential moves.

But one player who didn’t go to The World Cup and has been linked to Aston Villa over the last couple of weeks is ex-Arsenal man Niklas Bendtner.

He has flickered so brightly at times for Arsenal and, physically, looks like the perfect number nine for The Premier League.

But he has regularly illustrated that he may not have the footwork to play at the very top level and his goals to games ratio, whilst decent, is nothing spectacular.

But Paul Lambert may feel that he can harness the undoubted qualities of Bendtner and turn him into a regular goalscorer for the club.

With the future of Christian Benteke regularly being questioned we think that Aston Villa should stock up on strikers and perhaps this guy would represent a real bargain and someone who could make a difference to what would still looks like a rather thin squad.

Aston Villa are favourites with bookmaker SkyBet to sign the player this summer, if he does move, at odds of 10/11.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Aston Villa fans: could Paul Lambert get the best out of the enigmatic striker?
