Arsenal’s strongest XI with Khedira/Carvalho

Great team

Arsenal fans have had to put up with slight disappointment work comes to transfers over the last eight years.

It seems that whilst some of the best players in the world have been linked with move to The Emirates Arsenal have ultimately signed versions who aren’t quite as good.

That was until this summer where Arsenal fans’ patience finally paid off with the signing of the brilliant forward Alexis Sanchez.

Along with Arsenal’s new defenders Sanchez will bring added quality and steel to a side which is already brilliant going forward.

By and large the squad looks pretty rounded now but there is an obvious frailty and that’s in the engine room.

From afar it looks so obvious that Arsenal need to sign either Sami Khedira or William Carvalho. Both would be excellent and crucial additions to an Arsenal side which is great at dispatching the lesser sides but can have their pants pulled down by the big boys.

If Arsenal can throw off the shackles of prudence and push the boat out for one of these two and we think they will seriously challenge for the title next season.

But what is their strongest side? It’s quite easy to put together a back five and we are going to assume that they do sign one of these brilliant midfielders for the ‘2’ in front of the defence.

The front 4 is harder to pick as Arsenal have so many options. What is for sure is that Sanchez and Ramsey will play. If no more strikers arrive, then so too will Giroud. The other two slots are based on little more than an educated guess.

So, here’s our strongest Arsenal team, based on the club bringing in a midfield dynamo. N.B. we haven’t selected Walcott due to injury.

Let’s have your thoughts.

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Sczezsny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs – Carvalho/Khedira, Wilshere – Ozil, Ramsey, Sanchez – Giroud

Subs: Ospina, Chambers, Diaby, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Podolski

    Ospina,

    Debuchy, metersacker Koschielny Gibbs

    Khedira/Carvalho Ramsey

    Walcott ozil Sanchez

    Giroud

Subs. Ospina, Chambers, flamini, Campbell, Carzola Podolski

I agree with the starting line up I’d put whilshere in the hole where he plays best and put ozil out on the left where he played for Germany….

Also I would drop podolski for Joel Campbell all day long

I’d rather let go of Giroud 4 Walcott nd av Sanchez up front, Wilshere 2 retain his place in d original line-up wyl Ozil moves 2 d left

how the hell does wilshere make the first eleven??? the guy has done nothing in last two season to prove that worth. I would put carzola, a fit diaby and ox ahead of wilshere. Wilshere doesn’t even make the bench…he derserves to sold West Ham like Jenks or QPR where he will be costistently praised by his biggest fan Harry Rednapp even when gets injured or plays rubbish making poor tackles.

    Aspina,

    Debuchy Mertesacker Koschielny Gibbs

    Carzola Khedira or Carvalho Ramsey

    Ozil Giroud Sanchez

Sczezsny, Chambers, Diaby, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Campbell, Podolski

Arsenal needs the marquee signings for sure but Arsene and indeed the soccer-crazy-gunners should be ready to properly deal with selection biases while doing well in the games.
