Arsenal

Arsenal’s best XI with all the summer signings

Top team

There seems to be eternal concern over Arsenal’s transfer policy. But Arsene Wenger has done some excellent business this summer and the team looks closer than ever to being serious title contenders even after easter.

Alexis Sanchez will add even more pace to a side that is excellent on the counter-attack and he has also scored a couple of goals already to show that he can play in various positions up top.

Arsenal have also strengthened the defence which lost the talent and experience of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona a couple of weeks ago.

And the manager will continue to put his faith in youth with players like Yaya Sonogo expected to make big leaps again this season.

But in terms of first eleven players it’s only really Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy who walk straight into a high quality team when all fit.

Calum Chambers has had an excellent start to his Arsenal career but, once players return from injury, he can expect some time on the bench as he feels his way into the side.

For now we think that this is Arsenal’s strongest XI. With Giroud out for a few months we have discounted him for now and popped late signing Danny Welbeck in up top.

Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs – Wilshere, Arteta – Ozil, Ramsey, Sanchez – Welbeck

Arsenal fans: is this your strongest 11?

    Yr line up 4-3-2-1 with Welbeck playing at the main striker is what we r looking for. This is currently the best line up for arsenal. Cheers & hope Arsene will do just that.

    What happens when Theo returns after the international break? Also, might Chamber not be the ideal (long or short term) replacement in the Arteta role?

    These questions and more will be answered in the next episode of Arsenal.

    That would mean that my preferred best eleven would be along the lines of:

    Szczesny;
    Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs;
    Chambers, Ramsey:
    Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez:
    Welbeck/Giroud

    With the following alternatives for these positions:

    Ospina;
    Bellarin, Chambers, Hayden, Monreal;
    Arteta, Wilshere;
    Ox, Cazorla, Podolski;
    Campbell/Sanogo

    That makes a proper squad with real options.

    Well i think Welback will be better than Giroud and Sanogo. Just hope he’ll make a good striker for the team.

    No, not really. The team you suggest uses some of our best player, but it is too narrow. You need players like Campbell and Ox to give pace and width to the team.I also agree that Rosicky is one of our great players.

    So sad how many Underates our ever energytic and most loyal player [Rosicky]. Based on current form and work rates; Arteta [ineffective], Ozil [lacks zeal], Ramsey [Only scoring but no where to be found on the pitch], Sanogo & Giroud [worst reliance Arsenal CF known to me] all these guys shouldnt be allow to be playing when they are Under-performing. In all sense, its a disrespect to the guys rotten on the bench.
