Many of us onlookers are hoping that Arsenal will sign a stellar forward in January to keep this title race open for as long as possible. Because, although Arsenal are answering all the questions asked of them, we still think that Manchester City have too much quality to be seen as anything other than red hot favourites right now.

But if The Gunners could push the boat out and sign a player like Diego Costa they may just be able to push the superb Manchester City all the way.

Whatever happens Arsene Wenger surely needs to sign cover for Olivier Giroud. Theo Walcott is on fire, but Bendtner got injured, so Arsenal need more depth.

A name that has been thrown into the hat again today is Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic. With Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente arriving in the summer competition for places is brutal and Juventus have apparently told Arsenal that the player could be available for £8m.

The Mirror says:

It is believed that Juve general manager Beppe Marrota was in London over the New Year to meet representatives from both Arsenal and their north London neighbours Tottenham as the Italian champions consider letting the striker go.

But both clubs have been told to forget any idea of loaning the player for the rest of the season.

A bid in the region of £8million would be needed to convince the table-topping Italians to sell the Montenegro goal machine

He could hardly be called a ‘goal-machine’ with a straight face but with 130 goals in 410 career games, the lad has found the onion bag everywhere he has played.

Let’s have a Terry Butchers at him in action. Arsenal fans, would this signing be enough to get you across the line come May?
