Arsenal keen on signing ‘The Beast’ – report

Just as Manchester United are in a crucial period in their history you feel that Arsneal too are, albeit less dramatically, at a major crossroads.

It’s time to kick on.

Arsenal have remained competitive through the rebuild but now you feel that they are in stasis. An FA Cup final win will go some ay to breaking through this glass ceiling.

But soccersweep thinks that Wenger has one more year to progress Arsenal. If he doesn’t make some serious signings and a substantial challenge for the league and in Europe next season then there will surely be some kind of gentleman’s agreement to part ways.

In terms of the signings, latest reports have linked Arsenal to another Spurs player. The Guardian today writes:

Arsène Wenger has been particularly impressed with Sandro’s recent tweeting and wants the Brazilian’s renowned ‘banter’ to help cheer up a flagging dressing room.

The defensive midfielder could also come in handy the next time Mathieu Flamini is crocked. Sandro’s Mr 15%, sniffing an opportunity to live up to his name, has predictably said his client “came back very well this year and how many teams are revamping their roster for next season? There might be some official interest from clubs, he’s a high-level player. Surely he will continue to do a good job no matter which club he is at.”

Labelled by some Spurs fans as ‘The Beast’ he’s played 17 times for Brazil but his time at White Hart Lane may be coming to an end.

Although he’s been fairly consistent when fit, his popularity seems to have waned to a degree in the last twelve months of his career. Tim Sherwood recently commented that Sandro:

‘isn’t good enough to be in the side at the moment’

Arsenal fans may then feel that if he isn;t good enough for Totters he isn’t good enough for Arsenal. But the team certainly needs a defensive midfielder of real quality to improve the spine of the side.

Let’s see the 25 year old in action – Arsenal fans – good enough?
