Another done deal

It’s happy days at Arsenal after the signing of Alexis Sanchez was confirmed on Thursday night to put a spring in the step of every Gooner and make North London pubs 20% busier this weekend.

Because the latest signing proves that Mesut Ozil wasn’t an exception to the rule in terms of signings but that Arsenal’s new policy is to spend big on quality rather than quantity.

They have such a good squad already that you have to feel that this policy will pay dividends. In Sanchez they have bought an A-lister who was probably as good as anyone at The World Cup on form.

But Arsenal obviously won’t stop there. Mathieu Debuchy looks set to come in at right back and reports today suggest that Arsenal are close to signing another player for the same position:

Wenger is reported to be close to signing the Spain Under-20 international Javier Manquillo on loan as cover to allow Carl Jenkinson to join Newcastle.

The 20 year old has played at every level for Spain up to the U20s and has made an great impression at Atletico, forcing his way to a senior debut and looking ike a live wire prospect. This move would suggest that Jenkinson is on his way, whether on loan or permanently. And it looks like Arsenal’s back line will be much stronger for these two additions.

Let’s see Manquillo in action. Arsenal fans: right move to let Jenkinson go?
