Arsenal – perfect double deal mooted

Two linked

Two days until the World Cup people!

That won’t stop the rumour mills churning out ever more stories about potential deals for the top players and clubs in England.

Arsenal have a great need for additions to their squad – even though they had a decent season with a trophy for a change.

Two top strikers and a defensive midfielder would do beautifully thank you very much. Job done.

And reports today suggest that two of these three could come in the shape of Nigel De Jong and Alvaro Morata. The Guardian says:

Arsenal appear to be edging closer to nabbing Alvaro Morata, who is also sought after by Spurs and Inter. What’s more, Arsenal want to beef up their midfield by taking Nigel de Jong from Milan.

Arsenal fans must be bored to death of hearing the name Morata as he seems to have been linked to the club since before he was born. But Carlo Ancelotti yesterday implied that he is free to leave this summer and this has set off the specco once more.

But he has got the physique for The Premier League and we think that he might well end up in England this autumn at either Tottenham or Arsenal.

Another more interesting link is with Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong.

He’s got proven Premier League experience with Manchester City and we were quite surprised that the North West club got rid of him in the first place.

We think that he would be absolutely ideal for Arsenal- a player with experience and power for the hub of that midfield. Someone to keep Arsenal solid while the others bomb forward.

Arsenal need this type of midfielder desperately if they want to finally mix it with the big boys again.

He probably wouldn’t cost too much money either, at the age of 29, so could prove to be a medium term bargain.

Let’s take a look at some of his highlights.
