Arsenal: An even smarter signing than Sanchez

Get him in

The Sanchez signing is obviously great for the club. Not simply because he’s a top player. But also because it proves, after years of austerity, that Arsenal are ready to compete with the big boys in the transfer market once more.

But it doesn’t necessarily clear up Arsenal’s main problems. Yes they needed another striker and Sanchez could fill that role as well as playing in his more natural position out wide. But you have to say that Arsenal’s major weakness over the last 8 years has not been going forward but keeping goals out against the big boys at the other end.

The humbling against Liverpool may be seen as a one off but Arsenal do tend to capitulate against the top sides. They need more strength in their spine. They need a brute of a central midfielder and some may think that Arsenal should have spent their money on addressing this issue first.

The defence looks pretty good and Wojciech Szczęsny has just had his best season in goal for Arsenal. But we still think they can improve that area of the park. If Arsenal are going to get to the latter stages of The Champions League next season we think that they need a really established and commanding presence in between the sticks.

And, to this end, the bargain of the summer could be Petr Cech. It may seem an unlikely move, but with Thibaut Courtois likely to return to Stamford Bridge this summer and the club also reportedly making a bid for another keeper we think Cech will almost certainly be moving on this summer.

He’s been linked with a move abroad but we think Arsenal should snap him up. At just 32 years of age he will have a point to prove if he is given the cold shoulder by his club and could provide one of the final pieces of the jigsaw in an Arsenal title pursuit.

If Courtois does take the number one spot in West London there will be a top keeper available with years of Premier League experience. We think that Wojciech Szczęsny is an excellent keeper but that the presence and class of Cech could get Arsenal over the line next season.

Let’s see some Cech highlights. Arsenal fans: keen?

Fantasy land. Chelsea would never sell to arsenal, why not say neuer. Shez was tops for arsenal last season, our defense is solid enough. Midfield players areta carzola and flamini, lost the ball to many times in critical areas putting our defense in awful trouble.. When you play attacking style like arsenal do, full backs pushed on… You need a leader in the middle of the park, this should be our main target. DM Pogba or kedrhia. Pogba is fantasy, Kedrhia maybe.

Give him two years bcos Szczesney need a player to look up to after that he can go where ever he want and Szczesney will take over that position. Szcz and Cech they can’t make problem to the team as I seen Polish and Czech Republics have nice chesture to each other. Have been in Prague to have a party in vacation and all that stuff.

I agree with dlawlor. When the gunners go kami kaze on the attack, they are very vulnerable to the swift counter. These teams don’t waste time like like Arsenalpa ssing all over the place. Rather it is three to five passes at the most and the ball is in the gunners net.
The Brazil defeat is a poignant reminder of the way the gunners play.Until Wenger make the gunners hard to defeat, there will be more painful defeats.
