Arsenal’s new No.1 target?

Arsenal have done some excellent business this summer by signing a speed demon and replacing Sagna with a better player – if the France national coach Didier Deschamps’s selections are anything to go by anyway.

But we have been crying out, screaming, banging our fists in frustration for years about Arsenal’s need for a commanding central midfielder – an altruistic holding man who let’s the flair players take the headlines while he does the dirty work.

We all hoped, for Arsenal’s sake, that this man would be Sami Khedira. Of course a deal could still happen.

But we instinctively feel that whenever crazy money is suggested, in terms of fees and salaries, that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recoils in horror.

All power to the man. He may not please the Arsenal faithful with his prudence but he’s a man of principal who refuses to help the market get even more over inflated.

So the Hollywood signing, Khedira, may not happen. And reports late last night suggest that Arsenal may have returned their sights to a slightly cheaper alternative.

The Daily Mail says:

Arsenal will consider reviving interest in Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin should Sami Khedira opt to open talks with Real Madrid over a new contract.

At 24 he’s already played 231 games for Southampton since joining in 2008 and has recently forced his way in the French squad, getting game time at The World Cup no less.

While he doesn’t quite have the engine of Khedira (who does?) he is a player with lovely technique great positional sense and a team ethic – he won’t let anyone down.

So while Sami would be a lovely choice, Arsenal fans shouldn’t be too disappointed if Arsene makes Morgan his No.1 priority for midfield this summer.

Let’s see him in action. Arsenal fans: could Schneiderlin plug that long-term hole in the midfield?

bang on big name targets getting away from us yet again .arguement over wages walcot will be like a new signing . weve heard all this crap before he isnt a new signing hes one tyhat constanly breaks down w hen we need hin
ox is not a new signing .
where is the realy big name ? we have the money why have we not signed james rodreges ?its no good talking him up we need to sign him up .spend the bloddy money .the clock is ticking .
jose has it right.he has stated he has signed all his targets already they will now have the advantage of time .time to drill themselves into a unit while we are still mucking around
we have money to spend we lost 3 first team player ,we have signed only 2 not enough , no where near enough
wheres the stuning striker we need. for all the chat wheres the defencive power house . it seems we wont pay ,but as usual we will look for cheaper sloppy seconds in this key area instead of signing big .our targets for keeper are no where near big enough to chalenge .
is this going to be yet another year where we scap forth at best and arsene turns round and says o well at least weve got money in the bank .
who bloody cares. is he going to wait three years for his replacement to have the glory of making the difference or will arsene step up to the plate and give us the fire power we need .the gunners are short a few tanks and as a result may loose the war .

balotelli is keen as mustard to sign and play for us ?. his price has halved in the last few weeks.? puma willing to chip in ti get him. ? £14 million for £30 milllion 3 weeks ago .?if we cant get that back with change if he explodes ill eat my hat .he has to be worth a real punt at that money and with puma stumping up would cost us £ 10 million or less . no brainer .what is the reason for not having sorted this one out by now .? he makes a hell of an option for that money .

Fans, if you let me, the Wenger I know will not sign any more significant player. He might be looking for free agents or loan business. I agree we should not sign Khedira because he is greedy. How can someone who is earning $ 50.000 be asking for £150,000 ? That is bad business. However, there are other alternatives. Wenger will not go for them because he doesn’t want to spend money. Remember we still need a central defender. Nobody is talking about that now. Please Wenger, for a change go for good players now so we can compete.

I have been a die hard arsenal and arsene wenger fan but the sooner i see the back of wenfger the better. The club talks about ‘on the look out for talent if it improves the squad’. There are blooming 100s of players that will improve the squad. Most expensive ticket to watch arsenal in the world and we always buy second rate players for a 4th spot. Basically arsene wenger is scared of failing and competing. so all deluded wenger fans stop supporting him and get rid of him asap. It will be the same old story again. Sanchez only world class lpayer and nothing. Just like last season. OOzil and nothing more. They take us for mugs and i’m afraid to say we all are for putting up with it.
