Arsenal linked with world class playmaker – again

Is there any way Arsenal can shoe-horn yet another attacking midfielder into the side?

The mantra of this site should be ‘no smoke without fire’. In fact, FYI in case anyone asks, it is from now on.

Because despite Arsenal having an embarrassment of riches in the attacking midfield department they are constantly being linked with more.

Mesut Ozil came in the summer and has had a flying start to his Arsenal career. Jack Wilshire could be the best number 10 in the country if he was deployed there. Aaron Ramsey is scoring goals for fun even though he isn’t being used as one of the most attacking midfielders in this Arsenal formation. Then of course there is Santi Cazorla and the names continue to roll off the tongue.

But one player who has been making waves around Europe is the brilliant Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. He has been linked with a host of top clubs around the continent and it’s obvious why – this guy is pure class – a seamless link between midfield and the attack, he scores goals, is a wonderful passer the ball and can beat his man.

Quite why Arsenal would need another one of these is beyond us but The Guardian are reporting that Arsene Wenger is once more interested in the player.

Arsenal, still top of the league after putting Brendan Rodgers in his place, want to sign another midfielder, namely Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, available for around £25m

If Wenger is simply trying to sign the best players in Europe, regardless of position, then this guy could well be at target. He really is that good.

Let’s have a look at him in action and Arsenal fans is there any way you can shoe-horn yet another attacking midfielder into the side?
