Arsenal in danger of losing out to Manchester United in more ways than one
We spoke yesterday of how Manchester United will seriously struggle to get a fourth place finish this season. With just ten games to go the leaders are miles ahead of United. But we also suggested that, while everyone has been asking if Manchester United can catch Liverpool, Arsenal may prove to be the ones that are easiest to catch.
With lots of tough away games to come, added to European and cup involvement, Arsenal have lots on their plates. Liverpool too, have tough games to come, but their sole focus is the league – ten cup finals if you will.
The latest news suggest that Arsenal may be facing another fright with Manchester United – this time for a transfer target.
The Daily Star reckons that Manchester United may be keen on Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata:
Sources in Spain claim David Moyes is considering making a bid for the player this summer, while the Gunners and Juventus are also both said to be seriously interested.
Spanish journalist Guillem Balague revealed in February that Morata had been given the green light to leave the club in 2014.
It’s a bit of an annoying transfer tale really. Noone knows for sure if Real Madrid want the player long term so it’s hard to discern how likely a move is. While Arsenal most certainly need strikers we feel that there could be clear out of forwards at Manchester United this summer with only Wayne Rooney completely sure of his future.
Whether Manchester United would be interested in Morata is highly debatable. He;s an excellent finisher but we think that Manchester United will be looking for raw pace with their forward additions this summer – a quality which has been lacking to na alarming degree in this current squad.
Let’s see him in action. Arsenal and Manchester United fans – could this guy make a genuine difference to your team?
