Arsenal identify a top summer target – report
Now that the window is closed Arsenal will concentrate on taking the title down to the wire. But enquiries will be made soon with regards striker availability in the summer market. Because this Arsenal team is so close to completion. A world class striker would really give them added teeth in the tightest games – a player who can make the difference when there is nothing between Arsenal and the opposition.
Recent reports suggest that Arsenal have identified their target for the striking position. The Metro reckons:
Arsenal are reportedly lining up a move for Mario Balotelli after failing to land a new striker in the January window.
The Gunners were frustrated in their hunt to find cover for Olivier Giroud, with loan bids for Miroslav Klose and Salomon Kalou reportedly failing on transfer deadline day.
The source for the report is Italian sports news paper Tuttosport who reckon that Milan’s probable failure to qualify for The Champions League this season means that their top man will be looking for a move away from the Milan giants come the end of the season.
There is no doubting the player’s ability. Balotelli has scored goals wherever he’s played – including a sensational 21 in 29 games for his current club. The main question is whether, at 23, he has relieved himself of the petulant streak which turned out to be his undoing the last time he was in England.
In terms of playing ability this guy would certainly add weight and quality to the top end of the Arsenal team.
Arsenal might need a new right back. They could possibly do with another central defender. But, if they bought a world-class striker they could be challenging for every trophy going next season.
