Viera Mk II?

Arsenal fans are currently frothing at the mouth to get some kind of confirmation that superstar winger Alexis Snchez is on his way to the club.

But an equally, if not more, pressing issue is the acquisition a tough man for the engine room – a holding midfielder who can shore up the defence and orchestrate attacks.

Arsenal have be linked to many such players this summer – guys like Lars Bender, Artur Vidal and Morgan Schneiderlin and have been regularly spoken of in relation to a move to Arsenal.

Vidal would be a dream signing. But with so much competition for his signature Arsene Wenger may look for value elsewhere in the market.

Bender is proper German quality and would do a good job at the club. And Morgan Schneiderlin had some impressive game time at The World Cup to rubber stamp his new-found status as one of The Premier League’s better midfielders.

But there is a player who we believe could become another Patrick Viera for Arsenal. A Frenchman who is already plying his trade in The Premier League and has done a wonderful job so far.

Reports in The Daily Mail suggest that there is some uncertainty about the future of Moussa Sissoko. The player is reportedly in talks with Alan Pardew to iron out his situation.

…his future on Tyneside remains unclear and he will hold discussions with Pardew in the coming days.

Sissoko made an explosive entrance to The Premier League, giving several man-of-the-match performances straight off the bat.

A fully-fledged member of the France squad he’s a tall and commanding player who also has brilliant feet ‘for a big lad’. But he’s also a natural competitor who can put himself about in that midfield.

Add to that a lovely range of passing and a penchant for driving forward with the ball at his feet and his skill set begins to look very similar to that of the legendary Viera.

We think that if the Vidal deal doesn’t come off then Arsenal could do a lot worse than to go for Sissoko.

Let’s have a look at him in action. Arsenal fans: worth pursuing?
