Serge Aurier may have confirmed that fact that he will be joining Arsenal this summer. The Daily Mail reports that the right back was asked directly by a fan if he would be moving to the North London club, with the player confirming the move. The YouTube clip of the event was later posted to Twitter, and the player used his official account to retweet the video adding further confirmation.

The 21-year-old Ivorian has been linked with Arsenal as a replacement for Bacary Sagna for a number of weeks thanks to a number of fine performances over the past season.

Sagna made it clear last week that he would be leaving the Emirates, with his most likely destination being Manchester City. This would mean he would follow the likes of Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri who have left the capital to move to Manchester. With the veteran defender leaving, Arsenal will have to look to invest in this area.

Aurier would provide strong competition to the still relatively inexperienced Carl Jenkinson, Arsenal’s only other right back. Although Toulouse are not actively looking to sell it is expected that a bid of around £7 million would be enough to force the transfer through.

Aurier has previously spoken of his desire to leave Toulouse for Champions League football, and has made no secret of his admiration for Arsenal. Speaking to Eurosport France the full back said:

“It is certain that I would be a little disappointed to stay in Toulouse, especially after a season like this… I would not refuse Arsenal. This is a club that has a history, which has hosted many French-speakers who also have a French coach. Plus Arsenal is always looking for titles and playing in the Champions League.”

Aurier moved to Toulouse in 2012 from Lens and has so far made 70 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals in the process. The last season was seen as particularly positive by regular watchers of Ligue 1, combining his strong defensive qualities with attacking flair.

The young full back helped his club reach a respectable ninth place finish, leading to his first cap for the Ivory Coast.
