Arsenal: 5 feasible January striker signings

Karim BenzemaHas been linked to Arsenal since before links were invented. Wenger clearly likes his countryman and despite a decent scoring record he never seems too far from the door at Real Madrid. If Arsenal want him they would have to put a serious bid in – similar to the Ozil fee.

Demba Ba – We would rather massage Ian Wright out of retirement than get Demba Ba in but, nevertheless, his name keeps popping up in the Arsenal rumours column. In short, he’s rubbish. Otherwise he would be pushing for a place at misfiring Chelsea.

Jackson Martinez – He’s not rubbish. In fact, he’s very far from rubbish. He has scored 34 goals in 40 games since joining Porto last year. At 27 he’s in his pomp. But Arsenal will have to compete with the likes of Chelsea if they want him. Still he seems up for a big pay day/move:

“The years are passing and one day I hope to make a good transfer,” Martinez said.

“It clearly depends on Porto, a club that sells its players so well. Leaving or staying depends on Porto but I will only go if there is something concrete.”

Edin Dzeko – Just within the realms of gettability IF Manchester City want to sell. Dzeko has never seemed completely happy since he joined City but he’s a very good striker – though perhaps more in the Mourinho and Chelsea mould of human battering rams than the balletic ball players that Wenger so loves.

Jermaine Defoe – You Arsenal fans will be up in arms about this one but if you are still looking for a striker come the last few days of the January window we would snap this guy up quick stylee. Still scores lots of goals and is an excellent impact player. Forget the Spurs link will you…
