Arsenal: 5 players linked to that £100m spend

Had a sensational 2 years, including nearly 50 goals for Atletico Madrid. Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked

Massive spend on

Driving past Arsenal’s ground yesterday I noticed that the club seems to have developed as far as the eye can see around the stadium. It was an ingenious ploy which rid the club of it’s financial power for a few years but will surely pay massive dividends now and in the future.

Arsenal suffered for a while but now that all the residential properties that they built are being sold off at great profit we will soon be talking about Arsenal as one of the world’s big spenders – there’s no two ways about it.

Accordingly recent reports have suggested that Arsenal will give their manager £100m to spend on players in the summer.

If Arsene Wenger remains at the helm you might easily imagine that £90m will go on attacking midfielders! But The Guardian today suggests 5 players who have been linked and could end up at Arsenal.

Arsène Wenger will still be at Arsenal next season and he will be joined there by £100m worth of new playing talent, some of which may not get injured or fade meekly towards the end of the campaign. Check out the list of players currently being linked with a summer move to the Emirates: Diego Costa, Mario Mandzukic, Julian Draxler, Josip Drmic and Jackson Martínez.

Surely Arsenal won’t buy three major strikers. But they definitely need two. 21 year old Drmic would be a lot cheaper than the others so he could come in as a future hopeful.

Of the rest we think that Diego Costa would be the best buy for Arsenal. He’s dynamic, physical and unerring in front of goal. We think that he is the sort of player who could swing the tightest games in Arsenal’s favour once more. At present they too often fail in the biggest games.

The other stand out player on that list is the highly impressive youngster Julian Draxler. It seems that Arsenal were close to getting him in the summer but the fee was thought to be a stumbling block. Arsenal will need to be ruthless in the sum me rid they want to sign him in the face of even more expected competition for his signature.

Let’s see Draxler in action.
