5 Players that could complete Tottenham in winter window
After a stunning victory against Manchester United last weekend Tottenham fans are now beginning to believe that they can progress from the Harry Redkanpp era with flying colours. It’s a little early to be predicting trophies but Tottenham have clearly added well to what was already a top squad of players. Jan Vertonghen has been immaculate. Clint Dempsey has continued where he left off for Fulham and Moussa Dembele will surely become the jewel in the crown of the midfield, next to the superb Sandro.
But, AVB still seemingly wants to add a creative midfielder to his squad. Will Tottenham look to add in the winter and, if so, could it be one of these guys?
Cabaye has admitted on French TV that he was courted by Tottenham in the summer
“The offer from Tottenham was to replace Modric,”
He goes on to say that he didn’t want to leave but, if AVB fails with his other targets, he could well come calling for the midfielder again. Cabaye is a smooth operator who seldom cedes the ball and can chip in with goals too. A wonderful find for Newcastle and an integral part of their recent success.
The Porto schemer has been heavily linked to Tottenham since AVB arrived. He doesn’t score too many goals but Spurs are looking for a creator rather than a finisher and Moutinho is up there with the best. So close to joining Tottenham in the summer, he has to be at the heart of the short list of winter arrivals.
Malaga Sporting Director Mario Husillos recently said that “Tottenham tried to sign him before the market closed. He remains ours and with his clause, no-one has activated that,”
At 20 years of age he would have a big sell on value regardless of how well he did at Sours. In that respect it’s a low risk deal and one that AVB may wish to persist with in a couple of months.
The 24 year old Brazilian is another who drew interest from Spurs in the summer. He can play as an attacking midfielder or winger and that adaptability may serve him well under AVB. Hasn’t been prolific in front of goal but he’s another who can run tings from the middle of the park.
Manchester United have courted the player for a couple of years but have apparently been put off by the cost of recruiting the star, who is on silly money at Inter. Many think that Sneijder is ready for another challenge however and if United don’t follow through with their interest soon Spurs may just fancy a punt. For those who haven’t seen this lad play, he’s mustard. So quick, so precise, so intelligent – and he scores unbelievable goals. He would get a game for any team in the world – including that small Catalan club who’s name escapes me.
Who would you like to see AVB sign for Tottenham? Does he need any more players?
