5 Players that could complete Tottenham in winter window

After a stunning victory against Manchester United last weekend Tottenham fans are now beginning to believe that they can progress from the Harry Redkanpp era with flying colours. It’s a little early to be predicting trophies but Tottenham have clearly added well to what was already a top squad of players. Jan Vertonghen has been immaculate. Clint Dempsey has continued where he left off for Fulham and Moussa Dembele will surely become the jewel in the crown of the midfield, next to the superb Sandro.

But, AVB still seemingly wants to add a creative midfielder to his squad. Will Tottenham look to add in the winter and, if so, could it be one of these guys?

Yohan Cabaye

Cabaye has admitted on French TV that he was courted by Tottenham in the summer

“The offer from Tottenham was to replace Modric,”

He goes on to say that he didn’t want to leave but, if AVB fails with his other targets, he could well come calling for the midfielder again. Cabaye is a smooth operator who seldom cedes the ball and can chip in with goals too. A wonderful find for Newcastle and an integral part of their recent success.

Joao Moutinho

The Porto schemer has been heavily linked to Tottenham since AVB arrived. He doesn’t score too many goals but Spurs are looking for a creator rather than a finisher and Moutinho is up there with the best. So close to joining Tottenham in the summer, he has to be at the heart of the short list of winter arrivals.

Isco

Malaga Sporting Director Mario Husillos recently said that “Tottenham tried to sign him before the market closed. He remains ours and with his clause, no-one has activated that,”

At 20 years of age he would have a big sell on value regardless of how well he did at Sours. In that respect it’s a low risk deal and one that AVB may wish to persist with in a couple of months.

Willian

The 24 year old Brazilian is another who drew interest from Spurs in the summer. He can play as an attacking midfielder or winger and that adaptability may serve him well under AVB. Hasn’t been prolific in front of goal but he’s another who can run tings from the middle of the park.

Wesley Sneijder

Manchester United have courted the player for a couple of years but have apparently been put off by the cost of recruiting the star, who is on silly money at Inter. Many think that Sneijder is ready for another challenge however and if United don’t follow through with their interest soon Spurs may just fancy a punt. For those who haven’t seen this lad play, he’s mustard. So quick, so precise, so intelligent – and he scores unbelievable goals. He would get a game for any team in the world – including that small Catalan club who’s name escapes me.

Who would you like to see AVB sign for Tottenham? Does he need any more players?

I think Surs just need a couple of top quality signings to consistently take on the big boys.
A striker – Damaio, Remy, Huntelaar etc, a left back to compete with BAE & a creative central midfielder in the mould of Moutinho.
With the sqaud that we have now + the potential in our youth things can only get better from here.

  2. Ok, Cabaye will be a perfect addition in the midifield ,to give ABV opptions.

  3. ColinSC says:

My choice would be Isco, he is young and as stated previously has a good sell on value so would appeal to Levy too.

  4. TommyHarmer says:

Silly, dishonest talk …….. we don’t have this kind of money, and we will add one player at most in this transfer window, unless we have injuries. Spurs are NOT Citeh or Chelski, fortunately.

  5. kamlesh bhatia says:

why cant we use the academy graduates? for left back use kyle naughton for strikers use harry kane, jon obika and s coulibaly and for creative midfielder use mason ryan, john bostock, tom huddlestone. as the squad improves they can play well. harry redknappshire never gave time to youth now we can yes we can.

  6. Jay says:

Would love us to get one of these in the transfer window.
Can’t see Moutniho happening though following all the recent talk from his agent.

  7. Craig says:

Get moutinho, and a top striker like Damaio and we would be nearly complete!!!!!

  8. Will says:

Wlliam is overpriced as is Moutinho. Cabaye was not chased by THFC according to Pardew.Sneijder is too old and overrated and Isco is the really worth both money and effort. Damaio is becoming more expensive every month and him we do need as well as that elusive LB. Falque and Townshend have RW/LW spots backed up well but we need someone to pressurise Gylfi and NOT the yank as he a different kind of player totally> we need an Oscar and Isco is as close as possible.

    • Craig says:

Moutinho is not over priced no where near 22m for him is cheap I just hope we have not miss out on him and utd get him cos he is better than modric world class mate!!!!!

  9. Dave says:

I think we’re still light up top with very little options considering are taking all competitions seriously. No youth is ready for the step yet, and clint really isn’t a striker, his skill is arriving into the box late a little like fat frank. If that £7m clause is still there in jan, gotta look at Ba!

  10. Tony says:

Damaio and Moutinho- then a title push is not impossible. People forget we had three title pushes in the eighties, and this squad is a good deal stronger

  11. In my opinion when looking at their squad, they’re only one or two quality players off a great side. Maybe a player that help boss the midfield, and another striker, i think thats all they lack.
