With Jurgen Klopp looking ever more likely to become Liverpool head coach, we look at the players who he has worked with who could certainly improve the Liverpool side.

Mats Hummels

We like Sakho and think that he could be part of an elite squad. But you can have the rest. Skrtel is average and Lovren? Don’t get me started.

Hummels would bring the ball-winning and passing quality that is sorely lacking from the defence.

Ilkay Gundogan

He was injured long term but is still only 24 and well past his problems. Would add dynamism and creativity to a midfield which looks short of ideas since Steven Gerrard left the club at the end of last season.

Robert Lewandowski

Ok, this one is a stretch. But the brilliant Polish striker had a great time at Dortmund (2010-2014 – 103 goals in 186 games) before joining arch-rivals Bayern Munchen and, at 27, he looks absolutely tailor-made for The Premier League.

Marco Reus

Another player that Klopp must already have thought about when considering the Liverpool job. A successful modern football team is ever more dependant on a world class front 3 and Liverpool have struggled since Luis Suarez left the club. Reus has the quality to bring the cutting edge back to the front line and can play anywhere across it – top player.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The flying attacking midfielder is exactly the sort of player that Liverpool need to become a pacy, swashbuckling outfit again. With him on one side and Reus on the other flank, Liverpool would be mustard once again.

Liverpool fans: who would you most like to see Klopp bring to the club?
