Broadsheet Report: Arsenal linked with El Tigre Today in massive deal – but other deals more likely as Falcao moves elsewhere

Massive

It would be the mother of all deals for Arsenal. The redemption for Arsene Wenger who many had feared wasn’t pulling his weight in the transfer market, despite some decent business.

Because reports late last night suggested that Arsenal would make a move today for El Tigre, Radamel Falcao.

The Guardian says:

Manchester City and Arsenal have been offered Monaco’s Radamel Falcao for around £55m (€70m) and are battling to sign the Colombia international before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday night. A deal at that price would smash the clubs’ transfer record.

But, latest reports suggest that Manchester United have done the deal for the wonderful striker.

Perhaps a more realistic purchase would be to reinforce the defence. The Guardian reports today that Arsenal may make a late dash for the excellent young Serbian defender Matija Nastasic. Nastasic may be surplus to requirements at Manchester City and reports suggest that The Gunners are interested. The Guardian reckons:

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Matija Nastasic and both clubs have made an inquiry to Manchester City about the central defender.

The champions are minded to allow Nastasic to depart and would prefer to see the 21-year-old leave on a permanent basis, rather than a loan deal, as they look to recoup as much money as they can for the defender who cost them £12m in 2012.

While Manchester City have shown a willingness to pay top dollar in the market over the last few years their need to balance the books could mean that they have to sell before they can buy another high profile player on deadline day. Perhaps Nastasic will be one of the players to make way if they do want to invest further.

Arsenal fans will be gutted about the news regarding Falcao but it could still be a fascinating day in the market as Arsene Wenger seems keen to add to his squad.

Let’s see Nastasic in action. Arsenal fans: keen?

ONCE MORE FALSE HOPES.I WILL ONLY BELIEVE WENGER ONCE THE DEAL IS DONE BUT I DO NOT HAVE ANY HOPE THAT HE WILL SIGN ANY MORE PLAYERS.TO HIM HE HAS ALL THAT HE REQUIRES TO MAYBE FINISH 4TH.WE DO NOT STAND A CHANCE,EVEN FINISHING IN THE TOP 6 MIGHT BE A PROBLEM THIS YEAR.ITS BEEN PROVEN THAT WE DO NOT HAVE A WORLD CLASS STRIKER.
