Chelsea in for majestic forward. Surely the final nail in Fernando’s coffin – report

Big Business

However small the injury to Diego Costa this week it seemed like an important omen for Chelsea going forward.

Expect them to be in every competition until way after Christmas and if Costa does get injured again, and Fernando Torres leaves Chelsea, they will only have the 36 year old Didier Drogba as a recognised senior striker.

This surely isn’t enough. Whilst Chelsea have lots of adaptable forwards we can’t see players like Oscar, Salah or Hazard being able to do a convincing job at number nine.

So reports today suggest they might make an addition up top. The Daily Mail says:

Chelsea line up Mattia Destro if Fernando Torres seals escape route to AC Milan

Although Roma are adamant they won’t let Destro go player power seems greater than ever. If Chelsea really want this guy then perhaps they can make a deal happen before Monday.

Destro is one of the most promising young players in Italy and is already made a mark in the full International squad playing five times and scoring one goals so far.

Destro is actually not too dissimilar to Costa himself in as much as he’s not blessed with huge amounts of pace but is a really strong target man and a great finisher.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans: Is it vital that you strengthen up top if you want to go al the way at home and in Europe?
