Arsenal back to odds on favourites for world class signing as rumours grow

Why The Heckers Not

Arsenal are monitoring the market for several additions before the window closes.

But whoever else they bring in it’s hard to imagine a better signing than Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

If Arsene Wenger had won every trophy going for the last five years then it would be foolish to criticise. But it is glaringly obvious, from our perspective, that Arsenal need a real physical force in the centre of the park – someone with the influence to drag them through the tough games against top opposition.

The Arsenal manager has told us recently that he didn’t get close to signing the player and that appeared to be the end of the matter.

But reports resurfaced this week that Arsenal and Chelsea could be in the running for the player as their agent was currently in London for talks. Khedira’s omission from the squad against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday evening would suggest that his future lies away from the club.

And over the last few days his odds on a move to Arsenal have shortened again. The Gunners have been brought in to odds-on favourites, with SkyBet, to sign Khedira if he does leave his club this summer.

Ask most Arsenal fans and they will tell you that they would love to see Khedira join the club to add some steel to the spine of the team. But Wenger seems to steadfastly and stubbornly refuse to bring in a top quality player in this position – it’s anyone’s guess why.

Hopefully he will swallow his pride this summer and admit t he does need a midfield general after all. Let’s see the player action. Arsenal fans: is this a must buy?
