Move on

Latest reports out of Spain suggest Manchester United may be heading in the right direction with at least one transfer this summer.

With the sands of time fast running out on the window Manchester United need to move fast and one player who seems to have been drawing persistent interest from Louis van Gaal is Angel di Maria.

The Argentinian international travelled with the Real Madrid squad for the Super Cup final in Cardiff this week but didn’t get any game time.

While some of the British press report that the club remain pessimistic about a move taking place it does appear that Manchester United is the only club who can realistically afford the player now that Paris St Germain have dropped out of the running for his signature – publicly at least.

Marca says that Di Maria wants to go to Manchester United:

Di María pins his hopes on Man U

Di María only has one real option able to meet Real Madrid’s demands. That is Manchester United under the leadership of Louis Van Gaal, who singled him out for praise last weekend, saying: “we don’t have wingers of the highest level, like Cristiano or Di María”.

So there appears to be no good reason why Manchester United can’t sign the player. Perhaps, like other suitors, the club feels that the mooted pricetag for the player is too high.

But Manchester United need to return straight to the top of the English game and, with few stellar alternatives available at this time, many believe that they should pull out all the stops to sign The Noodle.

soccersweep thinks that he is very pricey but if LvG can turn him into a top wingback then they may get value for money. If they plan to play him up top then they may better served going for a player like Cavani or Falcao.

Expect movement on this one soon. Meanwhile let’s see some more Di Maria highlights.
