Barcelona now clear favourites to sign 64 cap international according to English bookie

With just a few weeks left until the end of the transfer window we are now coming to the business end of the summer market.

Barcelona were one of the first clubs out of the blocks, in terms of big summer transfers, and they will be absolutely delighted with the purchase of Luis Suarez.

But their business seemingly isn’t finished yet. They may still pursue an interest in speed demon Juan Cuadrado as well as buying in another defender for that slightly dodgy back line.

Gerard Pique will surely have a better season and Mathieu has come in but that hasn’t stopped the press speculating intensely about the purchase of another defender. Jerome Boateng, Daley Blind, Mats Hummels and Thomas Vermaelan have all been mentioned in relation to the club.

And the latest name to come out of the transfer hat is Liverpool stopper Daniel Agger. English media outlet The Daily Mail reports:

Daniel Agger puts Barcelona on alert after ‘asking’ Brendan Rodgers to leave Liverpool

Like Vermaelen we could easily imagine the player doing a good job at Barca because he is technically adept. As well as providing solidity in the back line he also loves to get forward and score goals – he has a really decent shot on him from distance and two good feet.

English bookmaker SkyBet thinks that this one could happen and they now have Barcelona as odds on favourites to sign the player, if he does leave his club this summer, at odds of 2/5.

Let’s take a look at the 64 cap Danish international in action. Barca fans: would this guy be a good option for the defence?

We might as well just use Bartra but I really wouldn’t mind Hummels or Boateng. Vermaelan – waste of time and money, Agger – if he’s our last option.

Hummels or boateng will certainly be s good purchase. My other option will be Agger. We just need to heal our defence!

Without selling Dani Alves, Barcelona should now focus on Hummels, Reus and Cuadrado if they want to make any impact this year. With these purchases, the whole field is insured, especially now that Real Madrid is attaching Falcao to their attack strike line. God Bless Barcelona.
