Manchester United: Strongest XI with The Three V’s

Great side again

Anyone who has seen Manchester United in preseason will know that the team is shaping up really nicely.

There is an entirely different atmosphere around the camp since Louis van Gaal took the reins at Manchester United.

His level of professionalism and meticulous preparation is entirely different from what we saw last season and it’s impossible to imagine that we won’t see a vast improvement on the seventh place finish under David Moyes.

There is still a long way to go in the transfer market and we believe that Manchester United’s level of success will be largely dependent on who they can bring in between now and September.

They have done great business so far and addressed two of their three serious problem areas in the side by bringing in a left-back and creative midfielder.

But the signing of a warrior-like central midfielder is crucial to the club’s future and immediate success.

Arturo Vidal seems like the ideal fit for Manchester United.

The three senior central defenders that Manchester United currently have on the books have done really well in America but they will certainly need one or two additions to help them out over the space of the season.

Thomas Vermaelen has been hotly tipped to come to Old Trafford and he would bring maturity and experience to a useful looking defence.

He probably won’t be the only addition to defence but, with him, Vidal in midfield and a rejuvenated Robin van Persie playing under his good friend Louis van Gaal, we imagine that the team will look really solid once again.

It is actually debatable whether Vermaelen would actually get a start in the strongest Manchester United eleven. The defenders have performed so well in pre-season that they might be given the nod ahead of the Belgian. But Vermaelen may well get into the best 11 in this formation thanks to his left footedness.

So, if Manchester United purchase Vidal and Vermaelen, we believe that the best team would look like this.

Manchester United fans: Let’s have your thoughts on this eleven.

Manchester United (3-5-2): De Gea, Vermaelen, Evans, Jones – Shaw, Herrera, Vidal, Mata, Valencia – Rooney, RvP
