Brilliant player

Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their interest in bringing Southampton right back Calum Chambers to The Emirates.

The Gunners are looking to bring the player in along with Mathieu Debuchy as a long-term prospect according to The Metro.

Chambers is a product of the Southampton youth system that has recently produced the likes of Gareth Bale, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott. He has played 24 times in all competitions for the club since breaking into the senior team in the 2012/13 season. While still awaiting a full international call up, he has impressed for both the England U17 and U19 sides.

It is thought that Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the 19 year old and sees him as a potential star of the future. He would likely play understudy to Debuchy if a move were to go through, continuing his development in North London.

With the imminent arrival of Debuchy it would mean that Arsenal could potentially have three established left backs in their side for next season, pushing Carl Jenkinson further down the pecking order.

Jenkinson has already seen his first-team opportunities limited over the past few seasons as Bacary Sagna was firmly established as first choice in that position. It may mean that the right back could leave Arsenal in order to get more game time, with a move to Newcastle suggested by The Daily Mail.

Any move for Chambers would further decimate a Southampton side that has lost many key figures over the past few months. Manager Mauricio Pochettino left the club to become Tottenham Boss in May.

They have also lost the likes of club captain Adam Lallana and Rickey Lambert to Liverpool as well as seeing their promising left back, Luke Shaw, head to Manchester United. Meanwhile Dejan Lovren and Jay Rodriguez have both been linked with moves away from St. Mary’s.

Koeman says no more sales now he is in charge, guess that would change if someone was to pay double what the players worth I.e Lallana to Liverpool. We turned down 20 million for Lovren. Chambers is English so would def. be 20 million plus. Saints dont need money so would have to be silly offer.
