Manchester United have a new addition

Manchester United's new kit

New dawn

Manchester United fans are on tenterhooks each day waiting for news about new signings coming to Old Trafford this summer.

There are holes in the defence and midfield that still need to be sorted – and don’t get us started on the wide areas. Surely it’s just a matter of time before Louis van Gaal adds to his purchases, hitherto, of the excellent Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.

But they will have to wait a little while yet. Because the latest addition isn’t a player but the new Manchester United home kit.

The first thing that we said on viewing it was ‘thank god the collar has gone’. We never much liked it and as it felt like a hangy offy piece of useless baggage. We are sure that collars will be en vogue again at some stage. But, for now, it’s all about sleek and streamlined tops in our opinion.

In general it’s a really nice home kit which also has a new sponsor. Chevrolet signed a lucrative long-term deal to be the main kit sponsor for Manchester United. It’s a 7 year deal which some believe to be worth a staggering £357m to Manchester United. The contract runs until 2021.

Manchester United fans will just be grateful that the new kit doesn’t look tacky.

Let’s hope that this shirt will be remembered by Manchester United fans as one which was worn through another glittering period of success.

Manchester United fans, do you like it? And are you pleased that the hangy offy bits have gone?
