Chelsea: A third major deal ON?

A rock

Reports today suggest that, before too long, Chelsea could complete a trio of superb deals that would surely put them in pole position for the title race next season.

With Diego Costa in the bag and Cesc Fabregas looking as if he’s on his way to Chelsea the club may well turn their attention to Porto centre back Eliaquim Mangala.

The rumours today imply that Mangala doesn’t want to move to Manchester City and that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal doesn’t fancy the player. So the move to London could well be on the cards for the brilliant centre-back. The Telegraph said:

Manchester United and Manchester City target Eliaquim Mangala favours move to Chelsea

And Van Gaal looks as if he’s not that keen.

The Holland coach, who will take charge when their World Cup campaign ends, is an admirer of Mangala but is unsure if the 23-year-old has yet to fully mature.

While Van Gaal needs to replace the departed centre-backs Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic as he seeks to rebuild his United squad this summer, the France defender is not among his prime choices, with the 62-year-old instead targeting Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels.

With David Luiz off to Paris St. Germain and lots of money in the bank from that sale Mangala would represent a more solid replacement and looks as if he’s got everything required to be a top modern defender.

If we could sign one central defender for Chelsea this summer it would certainly be Mangala so if they can pull this one off as well it looks like they’ve stolen a march on all of their rivals and bought three top players for next season.

The Chelsea manager can sit back and enjoy The World Cup and maybe sign one or two more players before the deadline with his major business done.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans: keen?
