Southampton’s first summer signing?

Quality player

Southampton are in a forced period of transition right now. In a very elitist sport they have become victims of their own success as some of their best players and even their manager look set to leave this summer. It must leave a bitter taste in the mouth of Southampton fans as well as many a football puritan.

But Southampton has been a very well-run club over the last few years and you would imagine a good infrastructure will remain in place.

A short list of potential recruits will have been drawn up for the summer and one potential arrival is Manchester City winger Scott Sinclair.

Since leaving Swansea in 2012 Sinclair has had an absolute nightmare at Manchester City making just 11 league appearances in almost 2 years. He hasn’t ever really grasped the nettle, albeit in a stupendously strong squad.

He will be absolutely desperate to get out and play some games next season and City’s loss could well be Southampton’s gain.

He’s pacey, with great athleticism and a decent final ball. There is very little not to like about the player. He may not have quite had the guile to compete with City’s other wingers for a place in the starting eleven but he is certainly a very good Premier League player and at 26 is about coming to his peak.

Skybet have Southampton as 6/4 favourites to sign to sign Sinclair this summer after recent reports linking him with a move to the south coast.

Let’s see some of its highlights. Southampton fans are you keen?
