Manchester United: 35m Maestro leaves door open for move

The Theatre Of Dreams

Sensational talent

We all know about the carousel of dazzling names that is doing the rounds in relation to Manchester United signings this summer. If Louis van Gaal turns up at Manchester United, as looks likely, the chance of the club bringing in some stellar players will surely improve.

But if soccersweep could pick one player realistic signing for Manchester United this summer it would have to be Borussia Dortmund creator Marco Reus.

Much has been said about Manchester United’s weak engine room over the last few years. But, for us, United’s downturn has mainly come as a result of that traditionally blistering 4-4-2 system which is failing due to a complete lack of quality from out wide.

Nani? Pony. Young? Not even fit to tie Nani’s shoelaces. And Valencia is an honest and still pacey pro but his final ball is becoming embarrassing. He’s also lost the ability to beat his man. So Manchester United no longer counter attack with speed. They no longer get behind the opposition defence as they used to do so effortlessly. They have two of the best strikers in the world but Rooney and RvP’s talents are being too often wasted due to awful service from the flanks.

Adnan Januzaj should be given more game time out wide next season – his final ball is immeasurably better than the aforementioned – but the addition of Reus would further return Manchester United to their exciting traditions of mouth-watering and ruthless attacking play – be it from areas or through the middle – the two-footed Reus can play pretty much anywhere.

The Daily Mail reports that he has been coy in terms of his future at his club’s end of season awards ceremony in Dortmund:

Despite being offered a new contract to stay at the Westfalenstadion, Reus confirmed he is yet to agree new terms – amid reports that 35million euro release clause will become active in the summer

Speaking at the awards ceremony, he said: ‘It’s like that in this business. Every player only has one career and wants to get the best out of it.

‘You have to decide what’s best for you. We’ll see about that.’

‘Every footballer has his goals and is dreaming of winning titles. At the end of your career, you want to be able to say that you’ve won many titles.’

Manchester United need to pay the going rate and snap this lad up. Because he’s going to have a brilliant World Cup and then every man and his dog will want a sniff.

Haha Young not even fit to tie Nani’s shoelaces, that’s damn funny because it’s true and Nani is far from his best past 2 seasons. I agree we should sign Reus and let a few young wingers like Lawrence through to the first team.
