Arsenal: Perfect double deal mooted – Arsene to finally get it right in the market?

Arsene-Wenger

Two perfect signings

From the outside it seems plain as day what Arsenal need to progress. Because over the last 8 years they have played lovely football without getting their hands on a trophy.

They are a highly popular side outside their own support because they are great to watch but they don’t really intimidate the top teams. If you draw Arsenal in the cup you always feel you have a chance because of that soft underbelly which accompanies the wonderful technique.

But recent reports suggest that Arsenal and Wenger are keen on two players who will fill the holes brilliantly.

The Daily Mail reported:

Arsenal are evaluating the cost of a deal for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.

Manager Arsene Wenger is resigned to the fact that Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa is joining Chelsea this summer, while Monaco’s Radamel Falcao, who is still recovering from a knee ligament injury, would be an expensive risk.

Arsenal need at least one more heavyweight striker and this guy is a top player. He’s an upgrade on Olivier Giroud in as much as he plays with a similar style but every part of his game is slightly superior that that of the Frenchman. He’s broken the net for Bayern with 45 goals in 80 appearances and has netted regularly wherever he has played.

Why do Bayern want to let him go then? You might ask. Well, they don’t necessarily. But with Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski coming in in the summer competition for places with him, Mandzukic and Muller, will be beyond intense. Something might have to give.

The Mail also reports:

Meanwhile, Arsenal have checked on Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo.

The 24-year-old Argentine – who has also been watched by Liverpool, United and City – has been booked eight times but has been impressive at centre-back during Sporting’s rise to second in the Portuguese league table. However, he plays left-back for Argentina and that is an added attraction for his British suitors who are all seeking to strengthen that position.

Even more than a striker we feel that Arsenal need an ugly bugger in the defence. Even Barcelona have Mascherano to do the dirty work when necessary. And although Arsenal have decent defenders they don’t have a Vidic an Adams or a Kompany – someone to add steel and a grisly, even machiavellian, determination which is required in certain games.

We all know that Arsene loves to pack his Arsenal side with number 10s. But these two might actually bring Arsenal some consistent silverware. To add to their FA Cup winners medal perhaps?

In my view of arsenal stan kroenke is the problem to the team because he is too mean when it comes to releasing money and wenger follows because its like their is a social contract between him and the board that he should lead the club to failure every season.
