Big transfers afoot

We always maintain that there is seldom smoke without fire and certain Chelsea rumours just won’t sleep. As we all know, Chelsea want to sign a striker in the summer – perhaps even 2.

But, as ever, they have big money to spend and will be investing at the top end of the market. Way before Edinson Cavani joined PSG there were rumours linking him with Chelsea.

Now he has stoked the fires again by admitting that there has been interest from Chelsea. He told reporters:

‘I am in Paris, but there are certainly things we must talk about with the club, things should be done differently.’

‘Chelsea were interested,’ he said. ‘But the only thing that matters in the transfer window is spending money, just like Palermo did in 2009, Napoli in 2011 and PSG did last summer.

‘I do not know (if my agent has met with United and Chelsea). If something should happen, it’s my brother who will do it and will be at the table with interested parties.’

Cavani, known as El Matador, may not have been too happy at PSG but he’s still banging in the goals on a reg – that’s 21 in 33 games so far. Not bad for a player who seemingly hasn’t settled. Prior to his time in Paris he scored 37 in 117 for Palermo and 104 in 138 games for Napoli. This guy is so full of goals that he passes them in his stool.

Chelsea fans don’t need me to sell Cavani to them. He’s the real deal and if Jose Mourinho can get him then Chelsea will be laughing all the way to silverware next season.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans – they dream signing?
