You would have to expect Chelsea’s main area of concern to be in the striking department this summer.

Indeed you would probably be surprised if any Fernando Torres, Demba Ba or Samuel Eto’o were to start next season in the Chelsea blue. But recent defeats in the league have highlighted the fact that Chelsea are probably punching above their weight in the title race at the moment.

Jose is in his first year back at the club and until he’s been there for a coupe of seasons we don;t expect to see the team playing exactly as he wants them to. But, have no doubts, they will eventually become that powerful and well-oiled Mourinho machine once more.

A left back will also be on the shopping list if Mourinho decides that Cesar Azpilicueta needs competition and Porto’s Brazilian full back Alex Sandro has been linked. Talksport says:

Chelsea are poised to rival Manchester United for Porto full-back Alex Sandro.

Mourinho has used right-back Cesar Azpilicueta out of position on the left-hand side for the majority of the season and wants a specialist left-back ahead of next season.

And he believes he may be able to prise Sandro away from his former club for a fee of around £15m, despite the fact the Brazilian’s release clause fee is set at around £40m.

The 23 year old joined Porto in 2011 and still only has 45 league game sunder his belt. But he has come on immeasurably over the last year and added real defensive solidity to his marauding football instinct. As you would expect of a Brazilian he’s got great feet and a big engine. He’s already turned out 6 times for th enartioan team, despite almost unbearable levels of competition for the left back spot.

We think that he would be a great alternative to Luke Shaw if the Southampton player remains at his current club or goes elsewhere.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans – Azpilicueta, Shaw or Sandro?
