Manchester United: Two forwards to leave as United clear the decks – report

Nani: Frighteningly good but not very often

Clearout begins?

Whatever happens with manager at the end of the season, it looks as if it could be all change at Manchester United this summer. Moyes or no Moyes, there are so many players who are either getting old, not getting the desired minutes or getting the desired minutes but playing like muppets.

It’s going to be such a busy summre that we couldn’t even tell you what formation Manchester United will be playing come August.

But it is clear that Manchester United no longer have the space or quality out wide to damage opponents in their traditional manner. The Guardian reports today that two wide men are likely to leave this summer:

several different news outlets say the club is prepared to cut their losses on Wilfried Zaha and sell the young winger to anyone who stumps up £5m

We would have liked to see more of Zaha when he was at Manchester United. But his relegation to the subs bench, while on loan at Cardiff, perhaps suggests that he isn’t ready for this level. A player who was being talked about as an outside bet for The World Cup squad at the start of the season now simply looks like an outsider.

The Guardian continues:

Tuttosport reports that Juventus and Napoli are hoping to unveil Nani as a Serie A player.

Unveil away! Please! Because, while Nani retains some of his supporters at Manchester United, he has played himself to a complete standstill over the last 2 years and, for our money, a move is well overdue. He definitely has the talent to be a top player, if only he could harness that talent and use it at will. Because, even at 27, he still with all the inconsistency of an 18 year old.
