Manchester United: Shock bid made – report

The madness has begun

It is turning into a really busy transfer window for Manchester United. Wilfried Zaha and Fabio look set for Cardiff City. Anderson has gone to Fiorentina for good. And superb news over the weekend that Manchester United have broken their transfer record for the brilliant Spaniard Juan Mata.

Something tells us that this will not be the end of the transfer business for Manchester United during January. David Moyes will try, right up until the end of the window, to secure another signing or two in order to strengthen Manchester United’s chase for success this season.

But one rather odd bit of news which has come in over the last 24 hours is that PSG have reportedly made a bid for Adnan Januzaj. The brilliant Manchester United youngster only signed a new contract a couple of months ago, which should keep them at the club for at least the next five years.

But The Guardian has reported today that the French club have made an offer which Manchester United immediately turned down. They reported in no uncertain terms:

Manchester United have turned down a significant offer from Paris Saint-Germain for Adnan Januzaj in the current transfer window.

The French champions have refused to drop their interest in the 18-year‑old despite him signing his first major contract at Old Trafford in October.

United rejected the offer and have made it clear they do not want to negotiate about a player David Moyes has said is talented enough to become one of the great modern-day players.

Many Manchester United supporters now believe that this guy is indeed going to become one of the great players in the club’s history. It is odd that PSG felt that they could have taken the player away from Manchester United just as he is starting to make an impression.

But The Guardian have reported this as fact and they obviously have some inside information on what happened before publishing the story.

But I think we can put this one to bed as the player won’t be leaving Manchester United for a very long time. Still, it is perhaps a portent of the madness that we can expect over the last week of the transfer window.
