Manchester United: ‘deal will be reached’ for Juan Mata transfer reckons Ballague

Mata - The Enigma

Moyes would be mad not to go for this guy

It’s been a long time coming. With us approaching the last 10 days of the window Manchester United fans were beginning to rub their eyes in disbelief at the idea that David Moyes would not strengthen the team in this window. 14 points off the top of the table and six away from Champions League qualification Manchester United are in desperate need of some star dust to give them a lift.

This evening SkySports have reported that Manchester United are in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of Juan Mata. Their correspondent Guillem Balague spoke about the deal:

And Balague said: “Manchester United and Chelsea are negotiating the future of Juan Mata – and the idea is that Mata, who Chelsea are happy to let go, goes to Old Trafford in this transfer window.

“Chelsea are asking for £32 million or with Wayne Rooney as part of the deal. Manchester United have said no to the money and no to Rooney – but I am under the impression that a deal will be reached because it benefits everybody.

The news today, from even the most highly respected media outlets, was that Manchester United are about to make a bid for the superb Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata. Ask most Chelsea fans and they will tell you that they would rather keep the player. Indeed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho might wish to do the same and rebuff any bid from Manchester United. Mata was player of the year for his first two seasons at Chelsea after joining the club for 23.5m from Valencia in 2011.

But what a player, and a shot in the arm, he would be for the struggling champions. A player to bring some serious class and purpose to the midfield. Interestingly, Gary Neville has recently tweeted to say that he doesn’t think Mata is a typical Manchester United player. He also questions where the Spaniard would fit into the team, suggesting that he’s not convinced the player could do a job in the centre of the midfield. Neville said:

“Does he fit in with what I would call the typical philosophy of Manchester United? I would say no,”

“Positives of signing a player like him are obvious-lift everyone (spark) creativity, knows PL, 4th place chances go up – fantastic player.”

With so little quality out wide at Manchester United right now a different formation could well work – a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with narrow wide men – but we would have no qualms at all about playing Mata in the centre of midfield next to Michael Carrick. Manchester United are desperate for somebody to pick up the passing pace and keep the ball moving precisely and moving forward. Mata can unlock the finest defence with his deft feet and football vision.

Let’s make no mistaker here – Mata is the kind of player to make the jaw drop – a pure joy to watch.

The question now is will Mourinho sell to Manchester United?

United are in for…..Cavani and Barcley … the midfield will be Reus,Gundogan,Herrera, and Mata. The back four will be Raphael,Evans,Mangala and Moreno…..and they all could not wait to work with Moyes and give their all for ‘The Glasers’…..as they have heard of their visionary training methods, their morals, and fantastic tactics……Oh yes the bench will be Maura, RVP, Drexler, Kagawa,Pique, and Joe Hart
Entertainment at all future games will be by Michael Buble, Rod Stewart….as the Glasers will from now on be thinking of the fans and giving them a true ‘Theatre of Dreams’….and then I awoke to a couple of loan signings (Mata & Coentrau), a couple of kids, and the longest injury list in O/T history, a dithering chancer of a manager, owners abusing us fans and paying the banksters and themselves. One day soon they will leave……so stick with Moyes…..As Buzz Light year said ‘to infinity and beyond’…..Moyes mantra is ‘To Oblivion and beyond’….
