Cardiff now odds on to sign flyer in Jan

Crystal Palace v Derby County - npower Championship-1441744

This would be a magic signing for Cardiff

Cardiff sit precariously above the drop zone in The Premier League just one point clear of the bottom three. But, despite huge opposition to the sacking Malky Mackey, new boss Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer has immediately buoyed the Welsh club with a brilliant smash and grab raid on Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Having immediately signed a couple of players to strengthen the squad Cardiff fans will hope that this new impetus will provide a platform for the club to maintain its Premier League status beyond the first year.

In truth, while the cup victory will raise the spirits, few will be overly concerned by the idea of going all the way to Wembley. Premier League safety is the priority now and Cardiff fans hope that more signings will come in January in order to consolidate their status.

One player who would certainly add spice to this side is Manchester United starlet Wilfried Zaha. David Moyes has overlooked the brilliant winger time and again this season, despite Manchester United’s terrible form, and we think he would be absolutely off his chops to let the youngster go in January. Sure, Zaha lacks finesse right now. But he’s only going to get that with game time. What he does offer is a superb engine, genuine guile, pace, trickery and match winning ability. We really think Zaha should have been given more minutes at United and that, if he does leave on loan, United’s loss will be another club’s huge gain.

Bookmaker SkyBet has installed Cardiff as favourites to sign the precocious youngster in January. He’s now odds on to make to the loan move in the next few weeks. After spending half a season on the bench Zaha will be keen as mustard to play some football and we think that Cardiff would be pulling off a real coup if they manage to bring him to South Wales. Hopefully the Solskjaer connection will make the deal more likely.

Let’s see him in action. Cardiff fans would you be happy if Zaha came on loan?
