Spurs favourites to sign a legend

Berbatov3_1140434

Is this guy really going to Tottenham in Jan?

During those quiet moments of reflection with his Powerpoint software, Tottenham coach Andre Villas-Boas will have considered why his team aren’t scoring many goals this season.

An obvious deduction is that Tottenham have lost the goals of Gareth Bale, who not only scored plenty last season, but also scored vital goals.

Erik Lamela, the £30m winger recruited to wow the fans in place of Bale, has been puzzlingly left out of the side even though his attacking threat would surely create more chances.

This lack of service could be why Tottenham’s strikers aren’t doing the business. Roberto Soldada likes to score from close range but he isn’t getting the ball where he wants it and has so far failed to shine.

Perhaps Tottenham need another number 10 to provide ammo and a creative spark for a team so close to motoring. We suggested last week that AVB may have given some thought to the idea of re-signing Dimitar Berbatov. He apparently wants to leave Fulham and would surely love a return to White Hart Lane – the scene of his greatest successes.

We think that he could easily prove to be the missing link for Tottenham. He’s 32 now but still fit and his football brain has lost little of its sharpness.

Bookmakers SkyBet have installed Tottenham as favourites to sign The Bulgarian in the winter window and we think that it could be a re-match made in heaven. At odds of 7/2 Tottenham are clear favourites for his signature if he does leave Fulham this winter.

Tottenham fans, would you like to see Berba back at The Lane?

Sorry Hayden,While i agree he is an awsome talent. The guy showed us no respect what so ever.Regardless of what he would bring too the club.Because he is such a temprementle bugger.Turns me right off of him.Plus he could well disrupt, our other playing staff.Far to big a risk.

The question with Berbatov is not his unquestioned talent but rather what he adds or subtracts from the dressing room atmosphere.Moodiness and arrogance may not be the mix AVB wants.

Berba has lost the magic he once had. Last weeks Fulham match has been a one off. Very lazy and an almost deadweight which isnt want you want in an english fast paced league. Id rather play Lamela in a roaming role to feed Soldado. Yesterday saw some good touches, but AVB needs to play him!

berbatov, I had the pleasure of meeting him, in my opinion he did not appear moody but more like shy, and then you get fergusson poaching and offering medals, most footballers only want to win something to put on the mantle piece, I would take a chance for the short term because in todays market £3 million approx would be sound investment
